The latest exhibition of the Arts and Decoration Group of the ILO was held in the Salle des Colonnades from 2 to 14 October 2016. This space in the Salle des Colonnades is a remarkable location for organizing such an exhibition thanks in particular to its luminosity. Seventeen artists participated in this event which was the second one after the rebirth of the Group in 2014. Both invitees and ILO employees as well as passing visitors were all able to admire works in their great diversity be they paintings, terracotta sculptures, jewellery or photographs. Interested readers are well advised to consult the website of the Section of Former Officials of the ILO which will provide them with a glimpse of the exhibition: see the photos album.
The Opening Reception brought together some sixty persons and was honoured by the presence of Mr. Martin Murphy, Director of DCOMM. The preparation of the exhibition was achieved in close collaboration with ILO services, in particular with DCOMM which we would like to thank for its advice and valuable assistance.
A friendly drink could be enjoyed in the Gobelin space before a magnificent tapestry. In his words of greeting, François Kientzler, President of the Group, thanked all the exhibitors for their contributions which according to comments have reached a very good level of quality. He also expressed pleasure at the Group’s dynamic with, currently, some thirty participants very faithful to meetings and to activities.
The exhibition lasted two weeks. Thanks to those who were on duty, numerous contacts could be made with the many visitors being there, ILO officials or outsiders. The idea was advanced that, during the next exhibition, a choice of animations on making pottery, jewels or painting could be offered between noon and 2 pm. Such a proposal will require the approval of the ILO Administration.
